Members/Membership

Membership is open to all serious studio potters currently residing in Oregon and the counties of Pacific, Lewis, Wahkiakum, Cowlitz, Clark, Skamania and Klickitat in Southwest Washington, USA. There is no jurying for membership.

  • The membership year begins in January and runs through December. Membership is on an individual basis.
  • Individual membership dues is $50 per year with no pro-ration, but you may join at any time.
  • Newsletter subscriptions (without other membership privileges) are available for $12 per year for anyone living more than 100 miles from Portland, Oregon.

General meetings are held the second Friday of January, March, July, September, and November at the Multnomah Art Center, 7688 SW Capitol Hwy., Portland. A business meeting at 6:30 p.m. is followed by a program at 7:30 p.m. A Board of Officers and Directors meets six times a year on alternate months from the general meetings. All business and programs of the OPA are organized and run by members, and members are encouraged to actively participate.

Member Privileges Card

OPA sponsors workshops that are available to members at discounted prices. It collects pottery donations year-round for Empty Bowls, a hunger relief program that raised over ten thousand dollars in 1997. OPA supports with optional donations the Craft Emergency Relief Fund (CERF), a national organization providing funding for craftspeople who have been injured or otherwise suffered major losses, and Studio Potters Network, a national organization providing a grassroots network among studio potters and potters organizations.

OPA produces the annual Ceramic Showcase and Sale in the Spring of each year. Booth participants in Showcase must have been members of OPA for one full year and be listed on the previous year's membership list printed in February. Memberships are due Jan 31 to be included on Februarys list. All members are encouraged to exhibit a piece in the gallery at Showcase. OPA selects and purchases one ceramic piece each year at Showcase for its permanent collection.
