2023 PROGRAM COORDINATOR

I am fortunate to have found pottery during my college time at UCSC (Santa Cruz), and to have studied pottery in Japan with a wonderful ceramic artist. The challenges & joys of pottery making meet me every day I walk into the studio, and i see my life ahead intertwined with clay and fire, as i continue this practice.

I was introduced to clay in high school, attended Alfred University for BFA studies, then MA work at University of Iowa. I moved to Portland in 1978, built my studio in Southeast Portland, then worked briefly at Thurman St. Studios, before moving to my home studio in 1984, where I still work today.

I have studied for 12 years under the supervision of Joe Davis and Natalie Warrens and an additional year with John Hasegawa. I have also worked in workshops with Richard Rowland, Richard Brandt, Brad Schweiger, Lorna Deane, Deb Scwartzkopf, Stephanie Burton and Christy Lombard. I am currently a member of the Gresham Arts Council, as well as the Oregon Potters Association. I look forward to many more years both as a potter, and a producer of fine art.
