Mark your calendars for our 40th anniversary! In 1983, Ceramic Showcase started with over 70 Oregon Potters Association members; this year we’re featuring 200, including some of our original founders and today’s emerging artists. We hope you’ll join us for this 3-day event! Learn about all the special events and activities we're planning below.

Always a FREE event. Suggested donation of $3 to support Clay in Education.

Over 200 ceramics artist from Oregon and SW Washington will be on site displaying their work. Many of these artists exhibit at this show only so this is your only opportunity!

2023 Showcase Artists


    • NEW – 40th Founders Gallery – Founders of the original 1983 Ceramic Showcase are either exhibiting or selling work from the past and present.
    • NEW – Silent auction featuring work by Ellen Currans - an esteemed OPA and Ceramic Showcase founder as well as customer favorite - will raise funds for OPA.
    • NEW – This year’s OPA Clay in Education fundraiser theme is: Cheers to 40 Years! The sale features drinking vessels such as mugs, steins, cups, etc, all donated by OPA members and studio partners. Money raised pays for OPA members to teach ceramics in Oregon schools at no cost to the schools.
    • NEW – Two shopping “happy hours” hosted by OPA in Hall A1 on Friday from 3-7pm and Saturday from 4-6pm.
    • NEW – Founding members will be honored at an after-hours artist party on Saturday from 6-9pm where past, present and future OPA members are invited to attend.
    • Emerging Artists Booth features up-and-coming members.
    • Three Grand Prize Packages from all 6 guilds – winners are drawn on Sunday night!
    • Clay Exploration Area for children featuring demonstrations of hand-building techniques from professional potters.
    • Pottery demonstrations by professionals, interesting for the whole family.
    • Clay in Education supports a High School Scholarship booth and award each year. The winner receives a $1,000.00 scholarship to the College or University of their choice.  
    • The High School Gallery displays student clay works from area schools, exhibiting what they are learning and making this school year.
    • Main Gallery features a rotating selection of the finest work by participating members. 

    Demonstrations Schedule

    Friday, April 28

    •  11AM - Peter Meyer - The Teapot - a balance of harmony and function.
    • 12:30 - Aubrey Sloan - Demonstrating Carving Styles with DiamondCore Tools on wheel thrown cups and bowls.
    • 2:00 - Dave Winget - Playing around with Clay!  Demonstrating fun tricks and explaining concepts to give you a better understanding of the pottery wheel.
    • 3:30 - Charles Piatt* Lids, knobs, and Handles: The Making of a Casserole.

    Saturday, April 29

    Sunday, April 30

    • 11AM - Rhoda Fleischman* - Rolling, Rolling, Rolling….Slab built Mugs and Vases using a hand carved roller.
    • 12:30 - Tea Duong - Pushing the Clay:  Throwing Large Pots
    • 2:00 - Allan Kluber - Horizontally Layered Colored Clay:  A ceramic and geologic process working with colored clay slabs that are layered much like sedimentary rock.

    Six Portland-area guilds have joined forces to exhibit and sell art and fine craft. All items are unique and of exceptional quality. Learn more at
