Biography
With over 30 years of art experience, Susan Gallacher-Turner has explored a wide variety of media. Currently, Susan works in ceramics creating functional and sculptural works that have been shown in galleries, open studio tours and purchased for the home, office and garden. Susan is a writer, and a member of OPA and Village Gallery of Art.
Susan's studio work has been shown in group and dual shows in several Portland galleries and across the west coast, art publications and commissioned for stage productions as well as private commissions. She has been part of Pacific Northwest Sculptors and Portland Open Studios.
Her background includes formal, university-level classes as well as small, intense, studio-based classes in graphic and interior design, still and life drawing, watercolor and acrylic painting, fiber arts, calligraphy, ceramics and sculpture.
Susan has also worked in the community in classroom settings through Portland Community College, as an Artist In Residence, an art teacher in the 21st Century Learning Center, a visiting artist working with middle school drama students, at-risk children at the elementary level and advanced high school students in a variety of projects.
