Artist Statement
Capturing the spirit of nature and creating a cup, bowl, jar, vase, mask or sculpture that's a delight to see, hold and use is my goal as an artist. Working with clay is like coming home. The smooth feel of porcelain on the wheel is soothing. Rolling a slab is centering. Sculpting leaves, buds or faces is peaceful. Using this three dimensional form as a canvas, I draw on my background in design and painting to create layers of color, texture and contrast in my clay forms.
