Artist Statement
Wheel thrown porcelain clay—my emphasis on form; pieces then shaped or carved. I high-fire to 2350 degrees F. balancing heat, time and oxygen. Reduction-fired (oxygen-starved) glaze chemistry for vibrant Copper Reds, time-honored Celadon Greens, and cedar-madrone accents. Studied with master potter in Japan during the 1980s. I have been a professional ceramist for over 40 years.
Biography
My emphasis as a ceramist is wheelthrown porcelain clay. I do glaze chemistry specific for reduction high-firing for vibrant Copper Reds and time-honored Celadon Green glazes. Teacher Dennis Staats gave young ceramists our good start in the world of clay. Later I studied in Japan, and have been a professional potter for 40+ years.
