Biography
I graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Illustration. A few years later, I discovered clay around 1995 and started taking classes at a local clay studio in Atlanta and have never looked back. I continued taking clay classes where ever we lived - Santa Cruz, San Francisco and Portland.
My husband and I have lived in Portland since 2001 with our 2 teen boys. My studio is in the basement of our NE Portland home where I retreat to create unique, hand-built ceramics using such methods as slab & pinch pot and use wooden & plaster forms to shape some of my pieces.
I glaze and fire everything in my studio. I love creating beautiful, decorative, functional pieces that can be used every day, often incorporating the sgraffito technique and various glazing techniques including the application of decals. I have been a member of Alberta Street Gallery, a co-op gallery on Alberta Street, since 2018 and show and also sell my work at various local shows and galleries.
