Artist Statement
My work is inspired by natural forms that are often replicated microscopically, oceanic and botanically. I'm fascinated by nature's many ways of growing and existing, in beautiful shades of green and every other color. I live to express the sensual deliciousness of flora and fauna in clay.
Biography
Denise Krueger first touched clay in a Portland Children's Art Museum class in 1971. She made a dish for her guinea pig and has been hooked ever since! In 1979, she took a year of ceramics at Tigard Senior High School. After a twenty-year hiatus, she took classes in throwing and hand building at Georgies Ceramic Supply while putting a small studio together in her garage. From 2008 to 2010, she took classes at Portland Community College. Currently, she is making pod forms in her home studio and saving up for cool workshops to attend.
