Artist Statement
My work explores the relationships between shape and pattern using functional, thrown pottery. My influences are mostly Asian and change with the season.
Many of my underglaze patterns are from nature, though I also employ abstract patterns. The intention is to highlight the shape or important features of the piece.
I have been looking at and collecting pottery for all of my adult life. Ten years ago I began to create it myself. I have been fortunate to have pieces in several juried shows, on-going at the Phat Cart Cafe and an annual show in July/August at the Behind the Museum Cafe.
