Artist Statement
I strive to bring joy into people’s everyday lives through my ceramics. Creating objects with clay brings me the greatest happiness and I hope to make this happiness evident in my work. Inspired by organic forms and nature I constantly explore with color and materiality to share how I see the world around me.
Biography
I’ve loved nature as far as I remember, ever since my father took us hiking every weekend during my childhood. We would explore mountains, beaches, and rivers where we camped out surrounded by  beauties and sounds of trees, birds, flowers, water, wind and air. This influenced me in many ways including my pottery.

I was drawn to organic shapes and colors of handmade ceramic wares and loved collecting tea pots, tea cups and bowls. In the summer of 2016, I took a wheel throwing class with my daughter at OCAC and immediately fell in love with world of clay. I took every ceramics studio class OCAC offered for two years until I finally joined private studios — taking various workshops by many talented ceramic artists and working on my own style. What started as a hobby became my lifetime passion. I fall in love with clay everyday.

Creating functional pieces from lumps of clay is magical. Whether it be throwing on the wheel, coil-pinching, or slap building I take inspiration from those childhood memories as well as the endless range of clay bodies that exist.  It flutters my heart to see each piece come together and I can only hope it does the same for others!

Market events are incredibly special; being able to see people interacting with my work and meeting other creatives is always a great boost of inspiration and motivation. Seeing my pieces in stores and galleries is still unbelievable and so so exciting as well.
