Artist Statement
I am a Portland based artist creating small batch ceramics and chainmaille jewelry out of my home studio. I fire my hand built, stoneware ceramic creations at a local studio collective. My chainmaille jewelry is made link by link from stainless steel rings and findings. I have a few pieces that cross over between the two mediums, often ceramic work hanging from chainmaille chains. My work incorporates themes from nature, as well as bohemian and Celtic design elements. My creations are small and meant to be enjoyed.
Biography
I have been working in ceramics since 2016. I took ceramics class in college and loved it. Unfortunately during that semester I was in a car accident, and injured my back making it very difficult for me to continue wheel throwing. Rather than withdrawing from the class, my professor and I compromised on finishing the curriculum with hand building techniques. This experience really shaped my style and gave my work the unique qualities that it has today.
