It has only been through this recent work with clay, hand shaping these little houses, that I’ve been able to connect and joyfully share my work. After many years of drawing and painting for myself, sharing only among friends, this shift toward an outward facing practice has been gratifying and healing.
The work itself is very resonant for me. Little cottages, huts and houses reflect parts of my childhood spent in little cabins in the woods. My daughter was born in a yurt among the trees. Beyond this personal connection, we all want to go home, to be home, to feel cozy and safe.
