In this 2 hour workshop you will learn the foundations of pinching and pulling a form. This workshop will guide you through the steps of creating a cat from a solid piece of clay. We'll discuss the merits of solid sculpting and how it helps create uniform work. Learn to add the ice cream look to any creation as well as creating a textured ice cream cone. Carrie will demonstrate techniques learned from hand sculpting over 1,000 clay kitties. She has taught this sculpting method to both kids and adults, its great for beginners or experienced ceramicists looking for something new.

You Will Learn:

  1. Learn how to punch and pull a cat from a solid piece of clay

  2. Learn how to create an ice cream look and the process behind an ice cream cone.

  3. Learn how to create uniform work when hand sculpting

Materials Needed:

  • Clay (a 4 oz ball and some extra)
  • Needle tool
  • Sponge
  • Water
  • Scratching/scoring tool
  • Slip

The Zoom Demonstration will be recorded and sent out to all registrants if you want to attend but have a scheduling conflict during the live demonstration.

Since this is an online workshop, you will need to have a computer, tablet, or phone that can run video conferencing in a browser or app.
