A simple one-piece plaster push mold can help you create sculptural pieces efficiently and each piece can still be unique! Get over your fear of plaster and fall in love with the possibilities of quickly replicating your original sculptures which you have spent hours refining. From your detailed original, learn to make a basic plaster mold with readily available materials. I will show you how I use molds of my original sculpts of human and animal faces to create one-of-a-kind pieces. This is NOT an advanced mold-making course demonstrating two-part molds for slip-casting, but rather a class meant to show the versatility of simple press molds.
This class is best to first attend and watch, then attempt. When you are ready to attempt, here are the materials you will need:
Supplies (not necessary for class time, but needed in order to try the project on your own)
Objectives:
1) Learn to prepare an original piece of wet greenware for a one-piece mold and set up your mold frame
2) Learn to mix plaster, pour, and refine your mold for casting
3) See how I cast my molds and applications in which I use my castings
The Zoom Demonstration will be recorded and sent out to all registrants if you want to attend but have a scheduling conflict during the live demonstration.
Since this is an online workshop, you will need to have a computer, tablet, or phone that can run video conferencing in a browser or app.
