In this workshop we will explore a number of ceramic surface decoration techniques: fine line carving, sgraffito, craft foam stamps and mishima. Jess will be doing a step-by-step demo of how she achieves her fine carved lines employing the use of underglazes and tinted glazes with a likeness to wash watercolor.
You Will Learn:
A broader knowledge of technical surface approaches
Materials Needed:
Leather hard pots or slabs (to use as canvases for surface exploration)
Any or all: a needle tool, Craft knife (x-acto or other), Kemper WS wire Stylus (https://www.baileypottery.com/c-090-ws.html)
Small sponge
Preferred underglazes (Jess likes AMACO velvet underglazes)
Paint Brushes (Jess prefers watercolor brushes because they hold more material)
Wax resist
