Join the East Creek Anagama firing crew in firing your pots for 5 days and nights in Willamina, OR. Each firing will be led by experienced wood fire-ers and provide the opportunity to learn, connect, and serve your inner pyro. Sign up for your chance to participate in a reduction firing!

Firing Style: Reduction Cooled, This reduction-cooled firing of the anagama will result in a more intense color palette than other firings, and the interruption of smooth glassy surfaces with textured, glittery, tectonic surfaces. While these surfaces are beautiful, be aware that they may exhibit some roughness or reduced functional qualities.

Your Pots: Each member can sign up for 1-2 CF. If there is space available closer to the firing date, we will allow members to purchase additional CF.

Loading: Your bisque fired pieces must arrive at East Creek by 9:30am on Saturday, Jan. 8. You are welcome to come out Friday to glaze and wad pots, and would be welcome to camp out on site. Opportunities for Portland drop off and for in person delivery will be available. In case of COVID escalation, a pickup service may be established. The OPA will help to organize these logistics for each firing.

The firing: We welcome you to participate in as much of the firing as you would like, but we ask that you come to at least one 8 hr shift during the firing from Jan. 11-17. An online scheduling mechanism will be available, and we will also establish a schedule during the loading.

Your finished pots: Each participant must come to the unloading that will take place on Saturday, January 29 to share in work and festivities!

This offering is available for OPA members only.
