Wild Glaze Workshop with Hamish Jackson

For Beginner and advanced makers.

Local materials offer endless possibilities and variety. In this workshop, we will explore making glazes with local rocks and minerals. You can bring your own materials to test if you like, and Hamish will also bring a variety of local materials! Hamish’s current work focuses on ash glazes so we will run some experiments with mixed wood, hazelnut, and volcanic ashes as well as other local materials.

The workshop will range from glaze basic to in depth technical topics. The workshop will consist of a lecture followed by hands on glaze making and learning! Each small group will work together make a set of glaze tests from their materials! 

After making many material tests on our first day we will load them up and fire them. The next week we will start by examining our results and discussing how to continue testing our glazes. We will open up for general glaze discussion, continued testing, and throwing demos to finish out our second session!

We will have a potluck lunch to break each day up and have a chance to connect with other participants!
