Support the Hokkaido International exhibition

OPA has been invited to participate in the Hokkaido Pottery Society(HPS)’s 55th anniversary exhibition in Sapporo, Japan at the end of October, 2023. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of an international, high-level ceramics show.

In the past, Oregon potters have gone to Sapporo and HPS potters have come to Portland to participate in our annual shows. We have exchanged techniques, tools, and kiln knowledge making new friends along the way. Another important OPA/HPS collaboration has been a project with schools carried out, each of us on our side of the Ocean, resulting in pieces exhibited here and in Sapporo. This year, as we are far into our school year, a pit fire project will be carried out during the ’23-’24 school year along with the Clay in Education Committee.

As always, the ripple effects of art spread far from their inception benefitting potters, organizations and schools. To get there, however, we need some support from people and organizations.  OPA has already voted to support more than half of the cost of this project. We need your help with shipping costs, import duties, insurance and professional photography of the exhibition.
