Nerikomi is a technique that involves layering, slicing, and assembling colored clays to create intricate patterns that run through the entire piece.

This workshop will consist of demos and hands-on work time. Students will leave with a basic understanding of the Nerikomi technique, a set of unique tools to continue their exploration (guidestick, wooden mallet, wooden mold, etc.), and an in-progress project. Kiln firing is not included.

Jiaxi is a Jiaotai/Nerikomi potter based in Portland, Oregon. She moved to the U.S. in 2024 with her family, and is now a full-time potter.
